Without simply trying to ban AI, Mark Fisher used AI tools in his class to understand how to re-incorporate essay writing back into elements. He broke up essay writing into sections and had students walk through generating thesis statements and outlines with the aid of a chatbot, including how to effectively prompt the chatbot and judge its responses. He then asked students to generate prompts, choose between lists of chatbot generated answers, and edit for precision/ personalization. Lastly, students discussed advanced uses of AI in research papers.
