Each year, Georgetown faculty, staff, and students across campuses and schools read and reflect on one of Dr. King’s speeches or texts during the Spring semester. CNDLS has created this teaching resource, if you'd like to incorporate this event into your course.

This year’s Teach the Speech event will explore the social-political impact of an act of racial terror that took place on September 15, 1963, at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The aftermath of this event not only reverberated through the city of Birmingham; but it also became a catalyzing event for the Civil Rights Movement. Dr. King’s "Eulogy for the Four Little Girls" has been selected to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing.

This event is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, Center for Social Justice, Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship, and Doyle Engaging Difference Program.
