Aiyanna Maciel

B.A., World Languages and Cultures, Stetson University

Aiyanna is a second-year student pursuing a M.A. in Latin American Studies with a concentration in Governance & Leadership. Though originally from Maine, she is a recent graduate of Stetson University in Deland, Florida with a degree in World Languages and Cultures and concentration in Spanish Translation. As an alumna of the Bonner Program, a service organization, Aiyanna has taught and supported ESOL students and Spanish-speaking immigrant families through English language teaching and workshops, and is passionate about community engagement. Before joining CNDLS, she worked with a local DC nonprofit, Hola Cultura, where she managed an internship program for Latinx youth and led a civic campaign to save a historic mural in Adams Morgan . At CNDLS she supports the Doyle Faculty Fellows Program and Inclusive Pedagogy initiatives. You can find her spending her spare time at farmers markets or writing short stories with a cup of coffee.
