Aaron Cohen began his project with a broad question about a specific environment--can the online classroom replace face-to-face meetings?

But this "big" question lends itself to another big question related to learning. If the online environment serves as a possible substitute for in-class discussions, how will students learn history in this environment?

He wanted to see if he could "give forty students a learning experience that they would otherwise find in a small seminar" and learn the skills of a historian in this environment.
