Josie Torres Barth graduated from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study in 2005 with a concentration in Film and Cultural Theory. She spent the next five years in New York working on independent films as a freelance art director. As a first-year graduate student in Georgetown's English program, Josie's research interests include narratology, Marxist critical theory, the politics of realist and anti-realist representation, and late- and post-modern literature and film. Here at CNDLS, she works both with the Commons team and as a videographer to help explore the possibilities of new media in humanities scholarship. In her spare time, Josie enjoys reading French and learning German, thrift-shopping, and riding her bike around the city.
CNDLS' Graduate Student Associates (GAs) share our staff's enthusiasm for all that fosters the scholarship of teaching and learning. Every Graduate Associate is an integral part of the CNDLS team and participates fully in the atmosphere of open communication, teamwork, and sharing of knowledge and ideas. GAs dedicate most of their time to working closely with Georgetown University faculty members and students on academic and professional projects; they also participate in a variety of CNDLS and university-wide projects and events.
