Janet holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Ohio State University as well as teaching certification in biology and chemistry for grades 7-12. While she published earlier in her career on the biochemistry of vasoactive enzymes in human skeletal muscle, work supported by the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute shifted Janet's attention away from bench science to science pedagogy. More recently, she has published on new technologies of writing, girls and science education, as well as on various pedagogical approaches. Janet is the CNDLS liaison with Georgetown science departments and Medical Center around pedagogical and curricular matters. She works across the disciplines on issues of information literacies, instructional technologies, and learning space designs. And she is a member of the Human Science department where she teaches biochemistry. Janet lives in the rural hills of northern Montgomery county and contemplates pedagogy on her long commute.
