The Biomedical Academic Computing Center (BACC) facilitates the
use of specialized educational software applications by installing
them on BACC lab computers for course-related activities. Installation
requires the software media, installation instructions, and proof
of license agreement. Consult Taffy McKeon, the computer services
librarian, for an introductory consultation to preview software.

Georgetown University holds many site licenses that apply to the
GUMC community. Examples of software, distributed free of charge,

upgrades, Office, Visual Studio, Publisher, and
FrontPage)
- Norton Anti-virus
- Computer Based Training modules
- Oracle
Some software packages may be downloaded directly from a web page.
In other cases, you can borrow the software on a CD-ROM from Hoya
Computing or contact the computer services librarian.

Hoya Computing coordinates with Dell and Apple to produce computer
“bundles” specifically for the Georgetown community at competitive
prices. For institutional purchases, standard configurations have
been established. (See Purchasing
Computers on the Hoya Computing site.) Any new computer
purchase must meet those standards to receive technology support
from UIS.
If you need high-end computing equipment or help in purchasing
a desktop computer customized for your needs, please contact the
UIS Help Desk at 7-4949. Or contact the Advanced

Hardware Repair Depot
Hoya Computing's Repair Depot repairs personally owned computers
through an outsourced arrangement with two vendors. The vendors
provide warranty and non-warranty service for a variety of name
