How do I arrange to have special software installed
on a classroom computer prior to my class?
Classroom computers are protected from patron installation of software
by a security program. To arrange for installing special software
prior to class, make an appointment with the CETS Classroom Computer
Coordinator at least five business days in advance. No software
will be installed on classroom computers during class time or the
period immediately preceding a class.
Can I use my own laptop for classroom teaching or presentations?
If you are connecting your laptop to a classroom computer projector
for the first time, you should test your laptop to ensure it will
work with CETS projectors. To make an appointment for testing, call
CETS a business day or more before your scheduled classroom use.
CETS provides the VGA cable (15-pin male) to connect your laptop
to the computer projector. You will need to provide accessories
such as the laptop power cord; an external floppy, zip, or CD drive;
docking port; or network cable.
What other services does CETS provide?
For demonstrations of the use of built-in classroom educational
technology, contact John Steitz, CETS Senior Zone Manager, at 7-2509.
For consulting on designing new instruction space and renovating
existing classrooms/auditoria to incorporate the latest technology,
call Mark Cohen, CETS Director.
For consultation to help identify and meet your special needs,
call CETS to speak with the Zone Manager for your classroom building.
Your Zone Manager also supervises equipment set up and can demonstrate
how to use the technology in your classroom.
For immediate help with the technology in your classroom, look for a Classroom
Assistance Hotline phone in the corridor outside your classroom. (This is not
the line for making requests for equipment.)
