Blackboard Basics

A broad introduction to Blackboard 7 for faculty who are new to Blackboard. Skills covered include configuring a course site, posting content, and using communication tools such as the discussion board. Several features will be explored in more depth in other workshops.

Blackboard Communication Tools

An exploration of the asynchronous and synchronous communication tools in Blackboard, such as the discussion board and built-in email. Also includes an introduction to group creation and management and an overview of features available to groups.

Assignments & Assessment in Blackboard

An introduction to the test and grade management features in Blackboard 7. Blackboard allows instructors to dispense assignments and to create quizzes or exams that are integrated with the course gradebook. The gradebook and the Student Performance Dashboard offer ways to monitor student progress. Participants will learn how to create assignments and tests and how to customize the gradebook.
