
Students can send emails to their instructor and classmates in a Blackboard course site by clicking on the Communication link in the Tools box (or the Communication button if it exists), then clicking "Send Email." You will see options for sending a message to all users in the class (students and instructors), all instructors, select users, etc. After clicking on the desired option, an email form will display to fill in and submit.
If you do not see "Send Email," check with your instructor to see if he/she has enabled this tool in the course site.
The Discussion Board, which is similar to a bulletin board, enables participants to read and post messages and create discussion threads. It is designed for asynchronous use, meaning users do not have to be present at the same time to converse online.
If your instructor has asked you to post on the Discussion Board forum but you cannot find a thread within that forum, please ask your instructor to submit the first post so that the students can respond/add to the forum.
